Proper Daily Maintenance Makes Forklift Parts More Durable

In daily forklift operation and maintenance, many enterprises have maintenance misunderstandings: either only pay attention to maintenance rather than prevention, and wait until parts are damaged to deal with them; or the maintenance method is not standardized, which accelerates the aging of parts instead. If you want to make forklift parts more durable, you must avoid these misunderstandings and establish a scientific daily maintenance process.

Myth 1: Ignore daily inspections and only perform post-failure maintenance. Many operators omit the pre-shift and post-shift inspection processes, resulting in small problems such as loose parts, oil leakage and wear not being dealt with for a long time, and eventually leading to major problems such as hydraulic system failures and transmission component breakage, greatly shortening the service life of parts. The correct approach is to establish a daily inspection ledger, check vulnerable and core parts one by one, and find and deal with problems early.

Myth 2: Non-standard lubrication maintenance and random selection of lubricating oil. Lubricating oil is the key to reducing friction between parts. If inferior lubricating oil is used, not filled on time, or the filling amount is inappropriate, it will cause dry friction of bearings, gears, chains and other parts, accelerating wear and aging. For daily maintenance, special lubricating oil for forklifts must be selected and filled in strict accordance with the cycle and standard amount to ensure adequate lubrication.

Myth 3: Inadequate cleaning and impurity erosion of parts. Forklifts mostly operate in dust and oil environments. If air filters, hydraulic filters and heat dissipation nets are not cleaned for a long time, they will be blocked and invalid, causing dust and impurities to enter core components and cause serious wear. In daily life, all kinds of filters and component surface stains need to be cleaned regularly to keep parts clean.

Myth 4: Randomly replace non-original vulnerable parts. Using inferior filters, oil seals, brake pads, etc. to save money, even if maintenance is done well, cannot prevent premature damage to parts, and will also damage other core parts. Original adapted parts must be selected for daily maintenance to ensure the maintenance effect.

Only by avoiding maintenance misunderstandings and implementing standardized daily maintenance can we truly reduce part loss, make forklift parts more durable, and ensure continuous and stable operation of equipment.
